OUR HISTORY

A few years ago, my husband Christian and I combined our expertise and founded much too much, a specialist shop for second-hand jewelry. Over the years, we've repeatedly encountered pieces of jewelry that have particularly delighted my heart and made my eyes sparkle. Like the enchanting butterfly on our website, which captured my imagination and captured my heart. My enthusiasm for pieces of jewelry that stand out among so many beautiful pieces gave rise to the idea of creating a new platform just for these treasured pieces. To let these special jewels shine and make room for their beauty, we kept everything else pared down and understated, without sacrificing the essentials. Inspired by another wonderful quote from Coco Chanel,

"Minimalism is the key to true elegance"

CLARISSA

I have been working as a second-generation auctioneer for over 35 years. From an early age, I was privileged to attend my mother's auctions. This enabled me to conduct auctions at a young age and gain a wealth of experience. Even though it didn't initially look like I would actually pursue this career, my path led me back to it. In 1999, I took over my mother's traditional auction house when she retired. In 2005, I decided to close the auction house and open a small shop selling antiques and jewelry on my idyllically situated farm. I then worked as a freelance auctioneer only until 2018, when I reopened a jewelry auction house in 2019. In 2014, I met my partner, Christian Dietes. Through this encounter and the shared enthusiasm for jewelry, the idea was born to combine this shared passion professionally and to specialize in jewelry with the company much too much.

CHRISTIAN

My professional career initially took me in a completely different direction. Although I had been interested in gemstones since I was a child, I initially wanted to pursue a very classic technical trade, working as a master craftsman. But my fascination with gemstones remained dormant within me for many years. So, halfway through my working life, I decided to take a new path. This fascination was now to become a profession and a vocation. My path led me to Idar-Oberstein, the center of gemstones in Germany, to receive in-depth training. After that, I opened my own gemstone laboratory, which I equipped with the latest equipment. When I met my wife Clarissa in 2014, it became a given that we would combine our knowledge and experience in the company much too much and mutually enrich each other.
